ENDOGYNAECOLOGY

The advent of gynaec endoscopy had begun in 1930s with the development of diagnostic laparoscopy. Recent years have witnessed increased sophistication of endoscopic instruments, many new advances in operating techniques and a marked increase in the number of procedures performed. The major force pushing lap gynaec were advantages of minimal pain, faster recovery, minimal or no scar.

As reproductive surgeons with expertise in advanced microsurgery and pelvic reconstruction endoscopy, we improve your chance of spontaneous pregnancy or improve the success of subsequent IVF in properly selected patients. The branch of gynaec endoscopy mainly includes the following

  • Laparoscopy

  • Hysteroscopy

LAPAROSCOPY

Laparoscopy also known as the key hole surgery, is considered to be the gold standard as it provides not only a panoramic and magnified view of the pelvic and abdominal organs but also opportunity to perform extensive surgery . It is a surgical procedure which uses special surgical instrument called laparoscope, which is like a thin telescope with light source, to look inside the abdomen. It can be passed through a small incision made near the umbilicus. Some of the surgeries commonly performed include.

  • Infertility works up

  • Fertility enhancing surgery

  • Lap myomectomy

  • Lap tubal microsurgeries (neo salphingotomy, fimbrio plasty, salphingo- ovariolyses)

  • Management of hydrosalphinx

  • Endometriosis- excision, electro- coagulation, Laser vapourisation.

  • Lap ovarian drilling

  • Lap endometriotic cyst excision.

HYSTEROSCOPY

Hysteroscopy is a valuable modality in the management of infertility nowadays. It is one of the oldest diagnostic procedures in gynaecology but general acceptance has been slow and only recently, has it been advocated as a tool in the general work up of an infertile patient. Also nowadays hysteroscopy has left the operating room and can be performed easily in an office setting without anesthesia, without a speculum and even without prior cervical dilatation. There is heightened recognition that the intra uterine environment is an important driver of human reproductive health. The role of hysteroscopy in assisted reproduction has expanded over years and the applications are still evolving.

This involves patting in a telescope to view the inside of the womb or the lining of the uterus. A hysteroscope, which is a thin viewing tool, is used for the same. The tip of the device is inserted inside the vagina & moved through the cervix into the uterus. Has got both therapeutic and diagnostics purpose. This procedure is able to detect problems such as scarring and bleeding which would make the person incapable of carrying a pregnancy successfully to full term. The various surgeries performed are

  • Hysteroscopy sub mucosal myomectomy

  • Hysteroscopy tubal cannulation for proximal tubal block

  • Hysteroscopy for metroplasty

  • Hysteroscopy for adhesiolysis

  • Hysteroscopy guided endometriel biopsy

  • Evaluation of endocervical canal
